The day starts with performances from all our entrants of the Downda Road Productions Songwriting Competition plus a host of others showcasing their talents in our intimate ‘In-the-round’ setting.
Kildare/Dublin band Hvmmingbyrd re-formed to an alt-pop duo in 2016 from its folky quintet beginnings of 2013, with original member Deborah Byrne joined by Suzette Das. Retaining their use of complex vocal arrangements but combining them with new electronic sounds using loops, synths and drum machine
The evenings acts begin with Kildare band The Mariannes, The Mariannes are an urban folk band with span Irish folk, blues and alt country roots. Their songs are known for their troubling lyrics, beautiful melodies and span instrumentation.
It’s singer/songwriter and guitar troubadour Davie Furey. Fusing traditional roots with contemporary folk and rock, Davie’s sound is characterized by storytelling, energy and guitar riffs that beat like a pulse. Citing Christy Moore, Luke Kelly, Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen as a diverse cross-section of influences, Davie has drawn on a wide range of inspiration while crafting his own sound.
The Headline act on the Saturday night is The 4 Of Us. These guys have been on the forefront of the Irish Music scene for years, belting out iconic tracks such as ‘Washington Down’, ‘She Hits Me’ and ‘Mary, which has been consistantly voted one of the best Irish songs of all time.
